Ludmila Sapozhnikova-Duk

In the artworks of Ludmila Sapozhnikova-Duk, sketches from life are balanced by the symbolism typical for icon painting. The main expressive means are colors; the surroundings are seen through a palette that can convey the most refined emotions. There is no clear distinction between portrait and landscape, they are equally non-objective - sensory perception in the artist's works prevails over direct depiction.

Ludmila Sapozhnikova-Duk was born in 1949 in Moscow. She graduated from the Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov. She has participated in more than 80 Russian and foreign exhibitions. She has been a member of the Moscow Union of Artists since 1984 and received a diploma of the Russian Academy of Arts for a series of pastel paintings in 1995. Artworks are included in the exposition of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art and kept in museum and private collections in Russia, Poland, Norway, and Japan.
